On June 29, we exhibited at Rowlesburg, WV. We set up our Soviet exhibit.
World War II Reenacting/Living History is a relatively new segment of the hobby in West Virginia, but it is growing in interest in the Reenactor community and also is attracting the interest of the general public. Rowlesburg, WV puts on a fine annual event on the last weekend of June each year.
This year was a struggle due to absolutely wretched weather conditions, but those of us who attended still managed to have a good time and engage more spectators than we might have expected given the amount of rain that pummeled us that weekend.
The event is sponsored by The Greatest Generation Society, a project of Jef Verswyvel and his wife, Maggie. These two great folks also run the WWII Museum in Rowlesburg. They appreciate reenactors and do everything in their power to make this event a great experience for participants. This includes a lot of food and ice when needed as well as an amazing Big Band dance and free access to the wet bar for reenactors!
