Here is a report on the Charleston, WV Veteran’s Day parade by Bill Donegan:
On November 11th, 2010 Linda and I attended the 68th annual Veteran’s day parade in Charleston, West Virginia. This year’s parade was a special feature for World War Two “ Rosie the Riveters”. The parade organizers had specifically requested that all “Rosies” attend the parade. They did. In fact there was a whole wagon load of them. Linda decided to wear her “Rosy” Impression, the one pictured in the famous Rockwell painting, and was a big hit at the parade. In fact she made the first page of the Charleston Gazette.
We met several World War Two Veterans at a ceremony held at the Lee Street, Capitol Street Triangle. The oldest was 91 year old Navy Veteran Dewey Robinson, from Charleston.
George Daugherty, an old friend of mine, sang patriotic songs, between speeches made by State Police, Army, and WV Senators, and  the Governor.
Linda and I were invited to attend a special presentation for “Rosey the Riveters” which will be held at West Virginia State University (Our Alma mater) on November 20, 2010, sponsered by the British Embassy.
